Hot summer headlines and a chat with Whirlight’s creators

Summer is often a quiet period for gaming news, but that certainly isn’t the case for 2026. With lots going on, Joshua and Jack delve into some of the hottest headlines. Included among them were the latest demo extravaganza at the Steam Next Fest, several surprising new game announcements, a great month of upcoming releases, the curious IP-switching and other goings-on at Supermassive Games, the success on Kickstarter of the newest Tex Murphy revival on Kickstarter to remake Under a Killing Moon, hopes and doubts for the continuation of Telltale’s The Wolf Among Us series, and a look at what’s ahead for Double Fine (recorded prior to the company formally announcing IP retention and severed ties with Microsoft).

From there the boys turn their attention to Ciro Camèra and Massimo Origamo of imaginarylab, as the Italian creators of Willy Morgan and the Curse of Bone Town and Whirlight: Time to Trip join them to discuss the small indie studio's ambitious new madcap time-travel adventure, the challenges of balancing puzzle difficulty, and how they’ve evolved as developers, among many other topics.

To cap a packed podcast, the top five lists provide a nostalgic look back at favourite toys from Jack and Joshua’s youth. Bonus first-hand anecdotes included!
