Top adventures of 1995 – 1999

The tail end of the twentieth century may have “killed” adventure games, but they sure did go out with a bang. Okay, we all know the genre never really died, but it did get awfully sleepy around the turn of the millennium. Before that, though, WOW! So many great games from 1995-1999, and Joshua and Jack once again springboard off the MobyGames rating system to talk about the best of the lot. As usual, it’s a bit of Goldilocks situation: some are too high, others too low, but an impressive amount are just right! (In their entirely subjective opinions, of course.)

One thing’s for sure, though. Three decades later, the definitely-not-dead adventure genre is going stronger than ever! The guys also discuss the embarrassment of riches released in the last month or so (in between a clunker or two), plus the next wave of newly announced games to get excited about in their place.

And, of course, the show is capped with a top five list of games (and other mediums, in Joshua’s case) from outside the adventure genre, as it was a fantastic half-decade for entertainment all around.
