Hard to believe that the adventure genre is now fifty years old. But while it may have started in the 1970s, it wasn’t until the 80s that adventure games really hit their stride commercially. In this show, Joshua and Jack take a stroll FAR down memory lane to discuss the best (according to ratings on MobyGames) and most influential adventure games of the decade.
Where do classics like King’s Quest I, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Hero’s Quest (aka Quest for Glory I) and the best text adventures of Infocom rank? Find out here!
On the other end of the chronological spectrum, the guys also talk about some of the most exciting NEW games with demos featured in the latest Steam Next Fest. It was another embarrassment of riches, from Phonopolis (finally!) to Crushed in Time, Cthulhu: The Cosmic Abyss (however it's pronounced), The Mermaid Mask and many more.
Of course, there were great games of the 80s in – gasp! – other genres too, so wrapping things up are the hosts’ top five lists of non-adventure games, with some fun personal anecdotes from the time added in for good measure.
