Sequel to popular cozy deduction mystery The Secret Salami coming to PC in 2025

If you ever see a flock of ducks fly off to parts unknown, chances are good they'll be coming back around soon enough. So too the titular star of Happy Broccoli's delightful surprise hit Duck Detective: The Secret Salami didn't say goodbye for good following the successful launch of his debut adventure earlier this year, as he'll be returning in 2025 for an all-new sequel, The Ghost of Glamping.

While the first game had down-on-his-luck detective Eugene McQuacklin attempting the solve the mystery of missing fermented foodstuffs, the follow-up sees our unflappable protagonist embroiled in a much spookier (if still entirely silly) mystery that occurs at a "luxury campsite" populated by a variety of odd animal characters... and possibly a ghost? To find out who or what is behind the disruptions, players will need to "inspect evidence, make de-duck-tions, and solve a no-murder mystery" to get to the bottom of things. But in digging up the details of a haunting new case, McQuacklin will be forced to confront the "ghosts of his own past" as well, finally coming to terms with his "failed marriage and bread addiction" once and for all. And this time, he's not alone.

Just about everything players loved about the short but cozy first game is back in the sequel – and then some – once again promising a "more humorous spin on deduction puzzlers" like The Return of the Obra Dinn and the Golden Idol series. As before, you'll navigate our fowl feathered friend around isometric, jazz-infused cartoon-styled environments, scouring for clues and interrogating the fully voiced cast of "suspiciously secretive characters." To succeed you must literally fill in the blanks by drawing on the information you've learned and items you've acquired to complete unfinished text statements that will lead you closer to the truth. Only this time, as you dive ever deeper into a "murky pond of delinquency," you'll have help – however reluctantly McQuacklin is to receive it – in the form of Frederson, your reptilian new partner who is eager to "nibble on the crumbs of justice." As with its predecessor, this standalone sequel aims to offer players a good time, not a long time, as the entire game is only expected to take between 2-3 hours to "quack the case" wide open.

There is no target release date just yet, but Duck Detective: The Ghost of Glamping is due to arrive on Steam for Windows, Mac and Linux sometime in 2025. No word yet on potential other platforms, though as The Secret Salami ended up on Switch and Xbox consoles as well, there's at least a reasonable chance of the sequel following suit.
