Hal Barwood seemed destined for a career in Hollywood as a screenwriter and producer, working with the likes of Steven Spielberg and George Lucas on films like The Sugarland Express and an uncredited Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Fortunately for adventure fans, Hal, despite not being "a big fan of adventure games" himself, was brought into LucasArts to co-write/design and direct one of the most iconic games of all time, Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, and later the more action-oriented Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine.

After leaving the company, Hal would go on to become the lead designer for Mata Hari, by German studio Cranberry Production, but more recently he's launched yet another career renaissance as a novelist, with ten books to his credit, his latest being Cratertown.

With such a long, varied and distinguished career to reflect back on, Hal recently sat down for an in-depth chat with Adventure Game Hotspot Network partner Daniel Albu of Conversations with Curtis. If you didn’t know who Hal Barwood was before, you can bet you will at the end of this extensive three-hour interview. So sit back, get comfortable, and enjoy the video.
