Description

B. Mason used to walk the Cat Town beat, until a fire at Pier 9 cost him his partner and his badge. Now he chases cheating husbands and insurance claims and keeps out of Cat Town. Then Mei walks in. Her husband Jun, a quiet dockworker who never drinks and never misses a shift, clocked out at midnight on Tuesday and vanished in the fog at the wharf gates. She can’t pay. Mason knows he should say no. The trail leads back across the river to the streets and the pier he swore he’d never see again.
