Police Quest II: A fair and balanced retrospective

A year ago, the Space Quest Historian jumped franchises for a fair and balanced look at Sierra's iconic 1987 procedural Police Quest I: In Pursuit of the Death Angel – because we all know that SQH is nothing if not fair and balanced. (cough)
Now he's back with a vengeance, this time setting his sights on the sequel, uhh, The Vengeance. In Police Quest II, players once again assume the role of Sonny Bonds, now a detective hot on the heels of the escaped convict Jessie Bains in a manhunt that soon comes to pose very personal stakes for the protagonist.
As with many gamers, SQH found Police Quest II an improvement over the series debut, but was far from enthralled overall and takes more then a little @#$%ing issue with the marketing claim that it's "so realistic, it was used to train law enforcement officers."
