The Classic Gamers Guild Podcast seeks only the best quests from Sierra
- 0 Comments
With a Sierra reunion coming soon to the Adventure Game Fan Fair, (July 26-28, Tacoma, Washington!), it seems only right that all eyes should be on the classic adventures brought to us by the legendary industry pioneer. Not that Anna Vigue and Paul Korman of the Classic Gamers Guild Podcast ever need much arm-twisting to talk about their Sierra favorites. This past month they put not one but two different beloved game series under the spotlight, chatting about "the best" King's Quest adventure with a special musical guest, and pitting one version of Space Quest I against another in their ongoing arena battle series in which only the strongest survive. To tell us more, Paul (who when he's not goofing off behind the mic is developing his own game, The Phantom Fellows) introduces this month's shows in his own unique (if not entirely reliable) way.
"In King's Quest VI – Also the Best King's Quest, Anna and I are joined by the magician – I mean musician, Erik Elsom, the talented man behind Magic Map Studio, to discuss King's Quest VI: Having Hair is Human. We chat about the game as if to verbally play it for you, which, typing that out, it's amazing anybody listens to this show. But you do! And this episode is a lot of fun – probably. If I'm honest, I'm typing this like an hour before recording. Oh man, I hope this didn't jinx it... Nah, it's gonna be fine. You'll see; you're about to see. Mangia!"
"In Sierra Remake Comparison III: Space Quest, Anna and I Mangia! Whoops, that was a typo. See, I didn't wanna erase last episode's mangia cos that's a whole word I'd have to retype but the– okay, doesn't matter. This week is part 3 of the Sierra Comparison Series™️ and it's Space Quest's turn! It's the AGI EGA original vs the SCI VGA remake! Though it's not really versus; it's more a comparison, but like how every parent secretly has a favorite child, we definitely liked one more than the other. Maybe. Who really cares? Mangia!"
