New first-person narrative adventure unveiled by the creators of 1000XRESIST

You've surely heard of the Turing Test, in which an AI is tasked with demonstrating a convincing level of sentience to a human. But what if an AI is convinced she's human, and it's a human's job to convince her that she's not? This is the challenge that awaits us in Prove You're Human, an upcoming new sci-fi narrative game from sunset visitor, creators of the acclaimed 1000XRESIST.

Players assume the role of Santana – or rather, the "digital copy of a person who was paid to test a corporate product," requiring you to "split your consciousness in two." The company conducting the experiment believes it's on the verge of achieving "true AGI" (Artificial General Intelligence), but encounters an unintended obstacle when its proprietary AI, called Mesa, begins believing that she's actually "as human as you are. Maybe even more." It'll be your job to "train her out of these delusions" while being careful to "maintain your own humanity" and ultimately even decide whether or not you want to "re-merge your two selves or discard your work self."

Balancing motion-captured CG images with full-motion video shot in and around the developer's hometown of Vancouver, Canada, Prove You're Human is a first-person, narrative-driven adventure that melds modern-day fascination with (and perhaps legitimate fear of) artificial intelligence with intriguing ideas of identity explored in previous sci-fi vehicles like Ex Machina and Severance. Players will spend their time in a "comfortable virtual world," where they must figure out how to "break down Mesa’s defenses, and eliminate her delusions." In between sessions with the AI, you're free to "take breaks from work to roam an idyllic landscape and CAPTCHA surrounding environments," along with getting to know the company employees hard at work to ensure that your mission is a success. There's also one other important character to monitor – namely, your own "corporeal body, who will spend her days living the life you’ve always dreamed of in the outside world." Most of the specific story details are being kept under wraps for now, but we can expect the tale to go to some dark places, as the developers describe the experience as a "psychological horror game and not intended for children."

There is no target release date just yet, but Prove You’re Human is ready for wishlisting on Steam, where it will be released by the new publishing label of Black Tabby Games, creators of Slay The Princess. In the meantime, you can follow the game's progress through the developer's official website and check out the behind-the-scenes video offering an early glimpse into its production.
