Commercial sequel to Octavi Navarro's free 2020 macabre culinary-themed dark comedy available on Windows PC

A friendly bit of advice: If White Blanket Games' Octavi Navarro and Susanna Granell ever invite you over for dinner, say NO! If, however, they offer to serve you up their latest game in The Supper series, the correct and only polite response is: Yes, please, with two helpings!

If 2020's wonderfully macabre dark comedy The Supper represented the free hors d'oeuvres, in which players controlled a grieving tavern owner preparing fatefully delectable meals for three very special guests, then the newly released The Supper: New Blood is the main course. This commercial pseudo-sequel stars Stewie S. Appleton, the adoring descendent of the original game's culinary protagonist, and it seems the poisoned apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Poor Stewie, the lonely, isolated owner of the decidedly Bates-esque Twin Sisters Motel, has been bullied all his life and has finally had enough. Now he's decided to "take justice into his own hands" by seeking revenge against visitors who deserve punishment with some unique recipes of his own that would make Hannibal Lecter's mouth water.

As with both the first game and the other acclaimed titles from these developers (Midnight Scenes series, The Librarian), The Supper: New Blood is presented in stylish pixel art, accompanied by an "eerie original soundtrack and sound effects that will make your skin crawl." The control scheme is simple point-and-click but not entirely traditional, blending (mostly) mini-map fast travel with a pop-up commentary box and drag-and-drop inventory system that highlights which hotspots allow item use. Players can expect (to commit) many horrific acts resulting in deliciously savage "cartoon gore," but this is not a horror game. Instead it's a dark comedy about a lost soul who simply wants to "make the world a better place...in his own way." (And admittedly, have some sadistic fun doing it.) To help Stewie prepare his deadly menu and clean up the mess after (ahem), you'll need to collect ingredients, solve "funny, bizarre puzzles" and investigate each guest thoroughly in order to choose his victims. With eight guests to choose from but only one victim per night, your choices will literally have life-or-death consequences.

Both the complete version and demo of The Supper: New Blood are available now to download from Steam, GOG and itch.io for Windows PC. It's not at all necessary to play the first game to enjoy this one, but The Supper is fabulous and free, so there's no reason not to whet your appetite. It too, can be found on Steam, GOG and itch.io. Bon appetit!
