Cozy supernatural unveiled by new studio including two Studio Fizbin co-founders

We've had a few haunted lighthouse games pop up in recent times, but most of the others have been intent on scaring the living daylights (or rather nightlights) out of us. Not so with Greta Sees Ghosts!, an upcoming hand-painted comedic adventure from a new indie collective called I Knew It! - Games.

Being a lighthouse keeper is usually a lonely job, but less so for Greta, a seemingly "average, run-of-the-mill" young woman except for one small detail: she happens to see ghosts. Or hear them, at least. As luck (or ill fortune) would have it, there are lots of spirits lingering among the "chain of remote North Sea islands" that Greta watches over. As she ventures out to find them, she'll meet a variety of "quirky poltergeists, each with their own peculiar requests, stories, and meaningful shape-based puzzles to solve." In order to help the "dearly-but-not-entirely departed," players must collect their souls in a "magical oil lamp" and "walk, talk, and befriend these ghostly hitchhikers to learn more about their lives, deaths, and mild delusions." With each successful "incorporeal encounter," you'll begin to uncover more of the protagonist's own unusual "quietly touching story" in the process.

If the hand-drawn cartoon art style of Greta Sees Ghosts! reminds you at all of The Inner World games or Minute of Islands, it comes by its inspiration honestly, as the game's developers include two of Studio Fizbin's co-founders. Similarly, we can expect another "heartfelt, witty puzzle adventure game" that relies on amusing dialogue and exploration over supernatural scares. Each of the islands you navigate via keyboard or gamepad contains various ghosts in need of assistance, including a "stressed-out businessman who forgot how to stop optimizing – even in the afterlife; a ghost grandma whose lapdog now runs with wolves; [and] a passionate artist who’s more upset about her final masterpiece being used as a door than about being, you know, dead." A recurring spatial puzzle allows you to gather their essence, after which you can engage in "playful, and just a bit morbid, conversations" with them to uncover their "wishes, regrets, and strange little habits" as you seek the right place to release them based on clues recorded in your scrapbook.

There is no firm target release date just yet, but while waiting for the full version of Greta Sees Ghosts! to launch sometime in the first quarter of 2026, you can already start cheerfully exorcising spirits in the playable demo available now on Steam for Windows PC.
