Sequel to scenic 2023 cinematic sci-fi puzzle-platformer announced for PC and consoles

In 2023, Wishfully charmed audiences with the gorgeous side-scrolling puzzle-platforming adventure Planet of Lana. Already, however, the world needs saving once more, as we'll soon be right back at it in the upcoming sequel, Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf.

The first game saw players assume the role of the eponymous Lana, a young girl who raced across scenic landscapes and mechanical monstrosities to save her abducted sister from an invading army of robots. We didn't learn too much about the planet of Novo itself in the process, but we will the second time around when "an ancient mystery emerges from Novo's hidden depths." Accompanied once again by her faithful animal companion Mui, Lana sets out to scour the planet both high and low, where "a new threat will put their unbreakable bond to the ultimate test, guiding Lana to confront her destiny amidst encroaching shadows."

Children of the Leaf shares much in common with its predecessor, telling another touching, wordless tale of friendship across stunning, diverse environments "packed with creative puzzle sequences and surprises around every corner." Some of the terrain will be familiar to returning players, but Lana soon finds herself in a whole new set of locales, including "icy mountains, deep oceans and forgotten ruins." There she'll find an even "wider array of physics-based puzzles," whose solutions sometimes include "hypnotizing spectacular creatures and controlling new hybrid robots for unique solutions." Quick thinking and a steady hand will be needed to "carefully navigate dangerous situations using refined stealth mechanics and tactical wit to outsmart foes." But at times good reflexes will be necessary as well, as you "master Lana's new agility with wall jumps, run-slides, and faster movement to survive thrilling, dynamic action sequences." Succeed and you'll uncover a "deeper, longer story ... that stretches across galaxies and centuries" and forces the young protagonist to confront both her own demons and the "planet's darkest secrets."

It's too early for a target release date just yet, but Planet of Lana II: Children of the Leaf is due to arrive sometime in 2026 on Steam for Windows PC, along with console versions for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X|S (including Game Pass) and Nintendo Switch, giving you plenty of time to catch up if you haven't yet played the original.
