Cozy and customizable open-world animal adventure coming to PC and consoles later this year

If you ever wanted an ideal vacation spot – somewhere cozy and carefree, sunny and warm yet filled with things to see and do – it just might some place like Petit Island, the titular setting of Indonesian developer Xelo Games' upcoming new animal adventure.

Lily's "grandpaw" was a bold, intrepid young feline in his youth, pursuing epic adventures across his hometown islands. But that's ancient history now that he's moved to the city and "left his adventuring days behind him" for good. He used to regale his adoring granddaughter with inspiring tales of his exploits, but now even his memories of those times are starting to fade. Having found a long-lost old journal belonging to her grandpaw, and hoping to rekindle that adventurous spirit in him once again, the "shy but curious" Lily decides she'll embark on an exciting adventure of her own, retracing his steps to "relive the stories told and maybe discover new untold ones."

Presented in a charming, colourful cartoon art style, Petit Island is a free-roaming "open-world narrative exploration game" focused more on "fun and small yet meaningful adventures" than grand feats of heroism. This cozy, child-friendly "tropical paradise adventure" lets you customize your character as you wish before being sent out to explore the island in search of "forgotten memories buried within its sand and shores." You'll meet and befriend all sorts of fellow "quirky and interesting" animals from peacefully cohabiting species, from the skilled fisherman Miyazaki to the aspiring environmentalist Shelly to the adorable attention-loving rabbit Violet, each with their own needs and stories to tell. You'll have to finance your journey, so you can "complete quests for locals or catch and sell insects and fish to earn in-game rewards." You'll probably want quicker transportation, too, as Petit Island is a big place, and you can rent out rideable animals such as the bull-like cocofallo or the more beginner-friendly bananallama. Of course, as the saying goes, "pics or it didn't happen," so to help Lily's grandpaw "reminisce about his adventuresome days," you'll need to capture nostalgic highlights using your trusty "pawmera" to take photos of "locals, tourists, animals, and everything else you can on the island."

There is no firm target release date just yet, but SOEDESCO will be publishing Petit Island sometime before the end of this year for Windows PC on Steam, along with console versions for PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch platforms.
