Original spinoff adaptation of the acclaimed horror movie franchise unveiled for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

John Krasinski's A Quiet Place took the horror world by storm when it arrived in theaters in 2018, telling the tale of a family forced to fend for themselves after the invasion of an alien species with hyper-sensitive hearing. Naturally its success ensured a sequel three years later, and now the series is looking to branch out even further – not just with the upcoming spinoff movie prequel Day One, but in interactive video game form with Stormind Games' A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead

The Road Ahead leaves behind the Abbott family, putting players in the shoes of a young woman struggling to survive on her own in the days "after humanity’s fall to deadly creatures that hunt by sound." The good news is, you're neither pregnant nor deaf. (Probably.) The bad news, if the reveal trailer is any indication, is that you seem to be slightly asthmatic, and you have only your wits, your courage, an inhaler and the "simple tools you can scavenge" in order to deal with the "treacherous apocalypse in the midst of interpersonal family conflicts, all while coming to terms with [your] own inner fears." And of course, you'll need to do all of that without making a sound, lest all hell break loose.

This "eerie new nightmare" is presented in free-roaming, first-person 3D to best capture the "frantic terror, unnerving atmosphere and gripping human drama that made the franchise famous." In this world noise is literally death, so every decibel counts, and your survival depends on stealth and guile rather than high-speed action. Instead of coming out guns blazing, you'll need to carefully "hide, distract, and sneak past the ultimate predatory creatures" you encounter as you forge your own path "through the disquieting remains of human civilization ... by observing your environment and leveraging the tools in your surroundings."

There is no specific target release date just yet, but A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is due to arrive later this year on Steam for Windows PC, along with console versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
