The Classic Gamers Guild Podcast pits interfaces face to face and finds points of interest in pixel art

Normally Anna Vigue and Paul Korman like to go it alone (together) on their Classic Gamers Guild Podcast. But sometimes different voices can be helpful, particularly ones who know what they're talking about. And so it is that in their latest pair of wonderfully entertaing shows, Anna and Paul welcome two very special guests to discuss two very different topics. What guests and how different? That's for Paul (also the developer of The Phantom Fellows) to tell us in his unique Kormanian style.

"In The Dialectical Tension Between Point-and-Click Interfaces and Text-Parser, Anna and I were joined by Ryan Slattery of Slatt Studio to discuss the pros and cons of text parser and the pros and cons of point-and-click, but like, comparatively. I guess it's parser vs point-and-click but idk, the "vs" gives it like a grudge match kinda vibe and we didn't really frame it like one of them has to win and the other lose. Here, let's start over with an overtly intellectual tone:

This week your hosts were joined by one R. J. Slattery to discuss Exegesis on Interactive Paradigms: The Dialectical Tension Between Point-and-Click Interfaces and Text-Parser Mechanisms in Digital Ludology.

Ah very good. That was most better. Mangia!"

"In The Enduring Appeal of Pixel Art, Anna and I were joined by Tom Hardwidge of Tall Story Games (Lucy  Dreaming, Heir of the Dog) to talk about pixel art in adventure games! We discussed how pixel art began as result of a technical limitation and went on to become a stylistic choice that people still can't get enough of. We also discussed its role in adventure games, purist vs modernized pixel art, how to make pixel art, and a whole bunch more! It was fun, flowy, and I'm told at one point, somewhat coherent. Mangia!"
