Puzzle adventure based on sight manipulation unveiled by the creators of Time on Frog Island

How we approach the world around us depends very much on how we view it. For us that's a figurative matter of points of view, but for the star of Half Past Yellow's upcoming Spectacle, literal changes in perspective are at the very core of the gameplay experience.

Players control a "newly recruited Trip Tender who made a catastrophic error when cleaning the Radio Spire," causing another young Trip Tender to be trapped. It's your responsibilty to free them, and to do so you'll need to "set out on a journey to re-align the portals of the Radio Spire," with help from the wise Elder Lizard Ambli. There will be many obstacles along the way, but what makes this game different is that you can "change your surroundings in the blink of an eye and wield powerful glasses that enable you to see and interact with the world in new ways."

Unlike the indie Danish developer's debut release, the wholesome sandbox adventure Time on Frog Island, here you'll find yourself in a surreal world of "eyeball creatures and lizards." Gone too is the previous game's third-person perspective, replaced this time with viewing the action directly. This isn't merely a cosmetic change but essential to progress, as in Spectacle, "sight is everything and nothing is as it seems." Puzzles are based on spatial reasoning, parallel spaces, line of sight and changes in perspective, and success depends on four different pairs of glasses that "give you special powers and manipulate the surroundings." Throughout the game you'll explore three main settings, each with its own "unique visual style and puzzle mechanics," allowing you to "interact with elements in the world by blinking and transform quantum objects around you by winking."

There is no firm target release date for Spectacle, but it's already available for wishlisting on Steam for Windows PC, and you can sign up for ongoing updates from the developer's website.
