Kickstarter coming soon for the follow-up to the 2017 comic point-and-click afterlife adventure

Everyone's favourite skeletal adventure game protagonist is back! Well, second favourite (because Manny, c'mon, but Murray doesn't count since he's just a skull.) It's Skinny, of course, the undead star of CINIC Games' 2017 comedy adventure The Wardrobe, who is set to return from the beyond once again in a sequel that will soon begin seeking crowdfunding on Kickstarter.

This time around, Skinny is aware that he's stuck in a video game, and he's none too happy to be trapped in a world "overrun by alien demons, good feelings and battle passes." Knowing that escape is futile, he sets out to achieve the next best thing for any cynical antihero: killing his own developers. His "journey of revenge" against those responsible for consigning him to the "last refuge in this miserable electronic realm" will be filled with wisecracks and zany shenanigans. To fulfill his wicked scheme (and just because it's fun), Skinny will "use a tractor, twelve logs and a whole lot of vaseline to steal a dispenser of warm beer, butcher a dead rat the Norwegian way with the blackest metal, combine a blood-stained hook with a rusty pipe to smash through windows, and empty a flamethrower on a delicate rosebush shaped like Bambi’s mom." You know – the usual.

Everything that worked about the original game looks to be back for the sequel, only dialed up to eleven. So we can expect the same gorgeous hand-painted cartoon artwork and animation, more bizarre items to pick up and stash in our ribcages, a new cast of characters to disdain, a "blasphemous cacophony of pop-culture references" to uncover, plus a plethora of wacky puzzles to solve – and this time, the developers claim (with tongues firmly in cheek) that the puzzles are "actually tested before being put into the game."

Most of all, we can expect more of the same outlandish humour in this "caustic, punk-and-click adventure" that promises to be "more cinematic, more nonconformist, and more lysergic than ever." (No need to look up "lysergic" in the dictionary since I did it for you – basically means trippy.) If you only like squeaky clean, goodie-two-shoes protagonists, you'll want to steer clear of Skinny's latest misadventures, as this "epic, blasphemous journey that smells of the slightly alcoholic mud left under the stage at the end of a concert" is targeted at those who will take sadistic pleasure in blowing up "an entire HR office with bergamot-scented bombs [and] have that strange perversion of enjoying being insulted by a video-game-addicted skeleton."

In order for all this amusingly misanthropic goodness to happen, however, The Wardrobe 2 will need some financial support. To that end, the developers are preparing a Kickstarter campaign, whose pre-launch page allows you to to be notified when the campaign goes live.
