New narrative-driven cinematic thriller from the creators of Life Is Strange coming to PC and consoles in late 2024

There's a new narrative-driven psychological teen thriller coming soon from Don't Nod, but it's not the one you're thinking of. Instead, the creators of the acclaimed Life Is Strange series has unveiled the first story in a brand new universe in the upcoming Lost Records: Bloom & Rage.

High school friends and musical bandmates Swann, Nora, Autumn, and Kat thought they'd be friends forever in the "magical summer" of 1995. But while out in the woods together one night, something strange, something devastatingly terrible occurred that broke their supposedly unbreakable bonds, causing them to vow never to communicate with each other again. For 27 years, that vow was kept, as the four girls never did contact each other even after they grew up and moved on separately. But that silence ends now, when "fate reunites them to confront the long-buried secret that made them promise to never speak again."

Described as a "story-driven journey through time," Bloom & Rage is not just the first game in an original new series, but the debut of a spinoff Don't Nod studio based in Montreal, Canada, formed by the "creative minds" behind Life Is Strange. While few specific details have been revealed so far, the team promises the same "magical realism we love" from their earlier games, and the first trailer hints at the similar sort of highly cinematic, vividly realized character drama we've come to expect, with relatable, realistic characters doing their best to deal with traumatic, extraordinary events.

No firm release date has been announced yet, but Lost Records: Bloom & Rage is due to arrive "late" in 2024 on Steam for Windows PC, along with console versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.
