First-person puzzle adventure set inside a locked office building coming later this year to Windows PC
It's the nightmare fuel of anyone who's ever worked in an office building to be stuck there after hours, but it's a whole lot more fun if a) your boss isn't there, and b) there's plenty of puzzles to solve like in Code: Loopbreaker, the upcoming adventure by solo developer Raúl Recio of Mega Dook Games.
You play as Ethan Brooks, a "low-level IT support technician at Atlas Technology" who wasn't expecting to have to work today. Unfortunately, with no respect for your hangover from a night of excessive drinking, your supervisor "wakes you up with an urgent call: one of the office computers is malfunctioning, and they need you to check it out now." Grumblingly you haul yourself into the "empty building expecting a quick, uneventful fix." But before long a "sudden tremor shakes the facility and turns your routine task into a sci-fi nightmare." But why you, why now, and how did this happen? More importantly, how are you going to escape? As you begin to explore and make repairs to corrupted systems, you'll soon come to discover that Atlas is really a "dark tech company brimming with enigmas and an absurd amount of corporate shenanigans."
Presented in first-person, free-roaming 3D, Code: Loopbreaker promises to put all of your analytical thinking skills to the test. Although subtitled an "Escape Room," you'll have many rooms and an entire office to nagivate here. Following the unexplained incident, everywhere you go you’ll encounter "locked doors, encrypted codes, and secured terminals," leaving the entire building feeling "like a carefully designed trap." In each room you'll find "a different kind of challenge – from visual puzzles to deduction-based tasks involving notes, documents, or clues hidden in the environment." To progress you'll have to thoroughly "inspect a wide variety of objects and search for hints in unexpected places," piecing together the history of Atlas Technology and its employees from "every workstation, abandoned desk, or unread message on a terminal." You're all alone in your trials, though thankfully with help from a built-in hint system that will offer "guidance without giving the solution away."
No firm target release date has been revealed so far, but Code: Loopbreaker is due to be unlocked on Steam sometime before the end of 2025 for Windows PC.
