Demo also available for multi-character puzzle-platformer inspired by ancient Chinese folklore

The world seems more divided than ever by our differences in race, gender, status and beliefs – much like the one in Threefold Recital, the newly released Eastern-inspired fantasy puzzle-platformer by Everscape, whose three very different heroes may just help show the way to getting along and working together, and have a darn good time doing it.

After millennia in which man and animal were able to peacefully coexist, an "oriental fantasy realm" and its metropolis of Bluescales are now on the verge of crisis. The "mix of magic, modern, and ancient technologies challenges governance," while "the secret art behind ancient miracles – presumed long lost – is resurfacing." Against this backdrop, tensions have begun rising between humans, mighty dragons and "beastlings" – former wild animals who have learned wisdom from the masters and become humanoid. Three such beastlings are the Buddhist wolf monk Triratna, the fox Daoist priest Taiqing, and the snake artist Transia. Each has their own unique abilities, but only by all three friends cooperating together can they hope to make their way through a "maze of curious events and bust the conspiracy behind it all."

Presented in a stylish cartoon aesthetic animated frame by frame, the narrative-driven Threefold Recital is a side- (and occasionally up and downward)-scrolling puzzle-platforming adventure in which players must switch between all three playable characters to succeed. Triratna is able to "sever karma lines – the threads of cause and effect tying everything together" (otherwise known as smashing things); Taiqing is an "expert of transmuting substances and other Daoist spells" from special ingredients gathered in your travels; and Transia is able to "enter paintings and alter people's appearances." With items to collect, including curious crystal-like collectibles called karmarines scattered throughout the environment, as well as puzzles to solve and physical obstacles to overcome along the way, players must continually switch between characters and perspectives in order to "piece together the full narrative, gaining insight into the interconnected stories." The game should provide between 10-15 hours of gameplay, with "dynamic difficulty adjustments and a puzzle-skip option" to allow players to tailor the experience to their preferences.

Previously an hour-long playable demo was released for this game, including a prologue sequence and Triratna’s chapter, but now the full version of Threefold Recital is complete and available on Steam for Windows PC, with a launch discount available for the next two weeks.
