Wildlife camera surveillance mystery available now to download for Windows PC
There's a new game out that takes place in a forest watchtower. No, it's not a sequel to Firewatch, but rather an indie wilderness surveillance mystery by NiceSoup called Trailcam.
Players step into the first-person role of a "veterinarian investigator, specializing in forest and wildlife incidents." Your latest assignment is set in a wooded area of the Appalachian Mountains, where a series of missing persons reports has baffled the local police. Each disappearance is marked by "ominous traces — blood, signs of struggle — but no bodies are ever found," so it's your job to monitor the cameras throughout the region to determine if the culprit is "a massive predator, dragging its prey to an unknown lair, or [whether there] is something more sinister at play." Using a "sophisticated PC system connected to a network of trail cameras," you must "monitor, document, and report any suspicious activity" you observe in the hopes of catching the killer before you become the next victim.
Trailcam is set entirely within the confines of the remote watchtower, but you've got eyes everywhere throughout the forest. The cameras will record any and all potential suspicious activity in real time, which you can observe first-hand via grainy black-and-white footage displayed on your monitor. You'll need to be patient and switch between camera views to identify potential clues, uploading any "suspicious occurrences" you deem fit to share with the Appalachian Mountains Forest Agency. You aren't just waiting for the solution, however, as you'll need to make decisions that impact the course of the "non-linear plot full of twists." In your efforts to uncover the "sinister truth" behind the mystery, "every choice and discovery affects the outcome of the case."
If you're ready to begin your watch of the Appalachian wilderness, you can get started right away as Trailcam is now available on Steam for Windows PC.
