Native American-inspired point-and-click mystery unveiled for Windows and Mac
There aren't a lot of games that focus on Native American stories, but gradually that's beginning to change. The latest to offer up an First Nations-inspired tale is As the Leaves Fall, an upcoming point-and-click mystery by solo developer Clay Crown Games.
Ahote was given up by his parents as a child, sent far away from his hometown of Birchwood Hollow, seemingly unwanted and never knowing much about his heritage or cultural identity. Many years later, after his estranged father's death, the estate settlement draws the now-adult Ahote back to the place of his birth. A stranger in this place, Ahote forges unexpected friendships but soon finds that something is very wrong here. When a "cold case converges with a spiritual mystery, a trio of strangers comes together to prevent a threat of cataclysmic proportions."
As the Leaves Fall is a fitting title, as the stunning autumn scenery in and around Birchwood Hollow and the nearby Native reservation are presented in lovely hi-res pixel art, from the local diner to the town park to an Indigenous Elder's log cabin in the forest. You'll meet a "broad cast" of characters during your investigation, all of them fully voiced, and just as in any classic adventure, you will collect inventory items and solve a variety of puzzles that promise to be "challenging, logical, and fun" along the way.
That's about all we know for now, with no release date yet revealed, but As the Leaves Fall is available now for wishlisting on Steam, where it will be released for Windows and Mac.
