Kickstarter coming for vertical-scrolling physics puzzler by indie French artist and developers

Adventures and puzzle games come in all shapes, sizes and directions, but few are shaped, sized and directed quite the same way as the upcoming Micromega

The world of Micromega has been destroyed, and all that's left are pieces of "drifting debris – remnants of intricate, fragmented machines that still pulse with life." Struggling to rise through the wreckage is a "fragile Sphere" whose low density causes it to drift ever upward. Rather than control the Sphere itself, players must guide it through this "surreal landscape with keen observation and precise action" by manipulating any available elements and "peculiar creatures" in the environment along the way. Beware, however, as the Sphere's delicate nature leaves it vulnerable to breaking, so its safety in navigating past sharp objects and other obstacles in its path becomes your responsibility as well.

Created by indie Parisian developer COVEN, Micromega is being designed in collaboration renowned French artist Mani, which is instantly apparent in its gorgeous monochromatic hand-drawn aesthetic. The game's title refers to a "MICROdyssey that leads to a MEGAdventure," which in more practical terms means "30 levels of escalating difficulty and rewarding cinematics." Described as "a delicate dance of physics and strategy," gameplay involves learning how the various disparate parts can work together to "shift the world and free the Sphere’s path to the unknown." Here "even the smallest push can set massive change in motion," so players must "discover hidden connections, find and use the creatures to unlock pathways, fight with the immutable laws of physics, rewind time, shift the winds – or sometimes... simply let things unfold." Different things operate at different scales, so successfully completing the Sphere's ascent depends on finding solutions that "bridge fine details and grand designs."

There is no target release date for Micromega yet, as a Kickstarter campaign will be required first in order to help finish its production. In the meantime, the game is already available for wishlisting on Steam, where it will ultimately be released for Windows PC.
