First-person 3D environmental puzzler using color to solve puzzles will be playable solo or co-op

If you ever wanted to be an artist but lack the steady hand, patience and fine motor skills required, perhaps the blunter instrument and free rein to make a colorful mess in Stability Games' upcoming Dreampainters will be much more your speed – and you can even bring along a friend to help out (or not).

Like many artists, Ray struggles to find work and make ends meet, so the advertisement for "a study on human creativity run by mysterious Neurem Labs" seemed almost too good to be true. For solid pay, all he needs to do is "sleep and let the scientists monitor [his] dreams." What could be the harm in that? However, Ray can't escape the sneaking suspicion that something isn't quite right, and the deeper he sleeps, the more he's plagued by the question of why Neurem Labs is conducting these experiments in the first place. Fortunately for players, acting essentially as Ray's unchecked subconscious, the protagonist's growing unease opens up a world of imagination to freely explore, inviting you to "pick up some paint, and find your way through the craziest creations of a sleeping mind."

Inspired by other first-person puzzle games like Portal, Superliminal, and Viewfinder, Dreampainters is a free-roaming 3D adventure that arms players not with a brush but with a gun. Not THAT kind of gun, though – a paintball gun! As you explore a wide range of surreal locales dreamt up by the sleeping Ray, you aren't just creating art for art's sake. Instead, each color has its own distinctive impact on the environment that you'll need to use strategically in order to overcome all the obstacles in your path. You'll bounce right off a wall painted yellow, for example, while red will accelerate your speed, to name just a couple possibilities. There's more than one solution to the puzzles, so it's up to you how you wish to approach them, and you can "customize your adventure even more by choosing which of the artist's memories influence each dream you experience through the night." Another option is to play co-operatively with a friend, putting each player in control of their own paint gun, though the game can be enjoyed as a more traditional solo experience as well.

There is no target release date for Dreampainters just yet, but it's already left its mark on Steam, where the game is available for wishlisting for Windows PC.
