Feels like Touch Detective 3 + The Complete Case Files is coming soon
All three games plus two bonus scenarios announced for Nintendo Switch early next year
In 2006, BeeWorks and Success Corporation released Touch Detective exclusively for Nintendo DS, followed a year later by Touch Detective II 1/2. But while Japanese gamers got to enjoy Touch Detective Rising 3: Does Funghi Dream of Bananas? in 2014 on the 3DS, the game was never localized into English – until now.
The Touch Detective series follows a young woman named Mackenzie, who inherits the family detective agency after the death of her father. Seeking to make a name for herself, the fledgling investigator sets out to “solve local mysteries with the help of Funghi (her mushroom assistant) and Cromwell (the family butler).” Eventually she’s accepted as a full-fledged member of the Great Detective Society, but there are always more mysteries afoot, and along the way players will “get to meet Mackenzie’s best friends Penelope and Chloe, rival detective Norman Touche and many other colorful, eccentric and memorable characters.”
For the first time early next year, English gamers get to experience Touch Detective 3 on the Nintendo Switch. Better yet, it will come bundled with the first two games in the series. And as an added bonus, two additional scenarios will be included that “feature Funghi exploring the environment, interviewing people and solving puzzles.” There will also be an “extensive in-game gallery with over 500 images of rare artwork, development sketches and comic strips.” The collection will of course retain the same charming hand-drawn art style, and the Switch’s touch screen allows for a smooth transition from the DS as players “guide Mackenzie through the town, interact with other characters, pick up and use objects and more.”
Touch Detective 3 + The Complete Case Files is due out sometime in the first quarter of 2024, and will be available both digitally on the Nintendo eShop, and as a physical edition from the publisher Nicalis. The latter is already available for preorder in either the standard version or a special edition that comes with a Funghi plush figure.
