Choice-driven "roleplaying musical" set in modern-day urban fantasy world coming to Steam August 3rd

Music is a central, if often underappreciated, element of any good adventure game, but it will be far more integral than usual in Summerfall Studios' upcoming Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical.

Set in a "modern fantasy world where Greek gods live hidden among us," a college dropout named Grace is bestowed with the power of a Muse. She's going to need it, too, if she's to discover the truth behind the previous Muse's death before time runs out. As you explore this world of mythical gods and monsters as you've never seen them before, you will make friends and foes alike, and must decide "who Grace allies with, who she can trust, and who may betray her." With the newfound gift of musical persuasion granted a Muse, you can "charm, negotiate, or strong-arm [your] way through the game, including in original, fully interactive musical numbers." Playing as both "star and stagehand," it is you who will "determine the story you want to tell through conversation and song." In doing so, you'll help Grace find her own unique voice, and perhaps even find romance with "four potential paramours." Just remember that every choice has a consequence that will impact the direction of the story and ultimately even Grace's fate.

Created in partnership with Humble Games, Stray Gods is a stylish hand-painted narrative adventure with a graphic novel-like aesthetic. But just as important as how it looks is how it sounds, promising a tongue-in-cheek "heartfelt reconception of Greek mythology blended with the magic of contemporary musical theater." Written by BioWare veteran David Gaider (Dragon Age, Knights of the Old Republic), the game will be fully orchestrated with songs from various artists including Grammy-nominated composer Austin Wintory (Journey, Abzû), which you will get to craft personally in your own "one of a kind musical experience." Not to be outdone by the musicians, the characters will be brought to life by a top-notch voice cast including Troy Baker, Laura Bailey, Ashley Johnson, Khary Payton, Allegra Clark and many others whose credits include video games, television, and Broadway performances.

We're just a few months away from seeing how it all unfolds, as Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical is due to take center stage on Steam for Windows PC and GOG on August 3rd.
